I just recently acquired a Compaq LTE 5250 laptop (Pentium 120Mhz, 16MB RAM, 800x600 SVGA Display with 1MB Cirrus CL-GD754 Video). Now I have been trying very hard to work around this thing missing its floppy drive. It has a 6X CD-ROM drive installed instead. Using VirtualBox I installed DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 to the HDD (Mounted Drive as RAW Disk)(4GB CF Card with IDE adapter split into two partitions), I was able to boot into Windows 3.1 on the laptop just fine. I put my Windows 95 Upgrade CD in the drive and installed that. Now when I boot the machine there is no CD-ROM drive. When I exit to DOS it still won't show up (yes the DOS drivers are still installed - says no device on boot up). Here's the weird thing...when I type WIN at the Dos prompt to return to Windows 95, the CD-ROM shows up and works perfectly fine. Any ideas?
